Best Richmond Restaurants
- Ironfish- Love this! Pricey. Good bread to start, really good dishes like goat cheese stuffed chicken and yummy scallops
- Proper Pies: Little pot pies filled with different things. Cheap ($5-6), fun food! Loved the pork and apple pot pie.
- Tarrant's Cafe- We loved everything we got- the very best is the CHICKEN AND WAFFLES! They have a happy hour with half off a bunch of appetizers.
- Hogshead Cafe- I don't even love BBQ, but now I do because of this place. So good and so unique. LOVED the burger with bacon, pulled pork, onion rings, AND cole slaw all on a pretzel bun. BEST sweet potato fries with maple dipping sauce in the whole world.
- Juleps- Very Richmondy experience. Nice dinner spot, best fried green tomatoes and loved their short ribs/chicken dish.
- Helen's- this place is pricey and has been around for a long time. Really good bread to start and we LOVED their mac n cheese with really good cheeses and crab, good burger, and good bacon stuffed chicken
- Millie's Diner: Brunch spot. It's Eric's favorite eggs benedict he's ever had. They also have fun breakfast dishes with an Indian twist
- Kuba Kuba: Cuban food. The Huevos Rancheros are our fav
- Mint: Richmondy feel. Sadly we do not like their new dinner menu, but LOVE their brunch (the hangover and french toast!)
- Comfort: Sal's FAV. Expensive southern food. You choose the meat and the then the sides you want- the scalloped potatoes/mac n' cheese are the best. We would also definitely get the banana dessert again!
- Buzz and Ned's- BBQ
- Olio- Lunch spot. Good sandwiches/salads
- Edo's Squid- italian food with a fun atmosphere. We loved the gorgonzolla pasta.
- The Hill Cafe- Fried Chicken, good price!
- Lulu's- Yummy brunch! We loved everything on their daily specials menu.
- Baker's Crust- they make this list just for their banana rum dessert crepe!
- On the Rox: We only go during happy hour! We get their beef brisket sandwiches that come with the best fries (1/2 off.) Best meal for only $5!
Richmond spots/events:
- James River- tubing, Belle Isle, black rocks, rope swings
- Cary Street
- Byrd Theater- on Saturday's they have an Organ player before movies. Only $2 to get in!
- South of the James Farmers Market- Favorite market with our favorite doughnuts ever.
- Pipeline/ Canal Walk
- Maymont Park
- Deep Run Park
- VCU games at the Seagull Center
- Tacky Lights Tour- Houses all over Richmond put up light displays during Christmastime
- Crab Feast- in Mechanicsville (summertime)- all you can eat crab from the Chesapeake Bay
- Stew Competition- at the 17th street Farmers Market in the Fall
Charlottesville:
- Monticello-Thomas Jefferson's home.
- Michie's Tavern- Old fashioned food buffet. Love the drinks in the tin cups and the best fried chicken ever!
- Carter Mountain Orchard- apple picking and apple cider doughnuts
- Downtown Mall- the hole in the wall chinese food is a must! We love the dumplings and sesame noodles
- The Local- kinda pricey, but really good food.
